Ghost in the Machine Film Premiere

Ghost in the Machine (dir. Valerie Veatch) is a gripping documentary exploring the untold origins of artificial intelligence and its effect in society today. Premiere of the acclaimed documentary film Ghost in the Machine (2026, 95 min) directed by Valerie Veatch at Cinema Orion, with the film director joining for QA online. Ghost in the Machine is a gripping and urgently relevant investigative documentary that exposes the buried history of artificial intelligence, not as a neutral system of algorithms, but as a technology shaped by racism, misogyny, eugenics, and entrenched structures of power long before it entered everyday life.Rejecting the notion of AI as inevitable or objective, the film traces how myths of progress and efficiency have obscured deeper political and cultural agendas, revealing the ideological foundations beneath the systems now reshaping modern society.Post-screening discussion with director Valerie Veatch, invited experts and audience QA, hosted by Dr. Nitin Sawhney, Docent at University of Helsinki & Uniarts Helsinki. “Ghost in the Machine delivers a thought-provoking takedown of Techno-Fascism. Valerie Veatch’s exploration of the eugenicist roots and colonial and anti-environmental reality of the A.I. arms race… tells the tale of a society that has lost its moral and humanitarian bearing at the behest of techno-oligarchs, amalgamating our own labor to keep us divided.” - Oliver Jones, The Observer Cinema Orion22.10.202617.15-19.30Tickets 10/12,50€ Performed in English
