Food is an important part of cultural traditions, bringing families and communities together through shared recipes, memories, and celebrations. During Día de los Muertos, traditional Mexican foods such as pan de muerto (bread of the dead), tamales, and seasonal dishes help families honor loved ones and celebrate their cultural heritage. Fun Fact: Pan de muerto is a traditional sweet bread enjoyed during Día de los Muertos. Its decorative dough shapes often symbolize bones, representing the connection between life, death, and remembrance. Workshop Activity: Teens will explore the cultural significance of traditional Mexican foods while learning basic cooking skills, food safety, and recipe preparation. Participants will create fall and Día de los Muertos-inspired dishes, discover the history behind seasonal ingredients, and learn how food preserves family traditions and cultural identity. Every recipe tells a story, and every meal connects us to history, family, and culture! For teens 13 to 18.
