About this event

Lost In Space is a series inspired by astronomy and musicians who embody the idea of space. Chicago woodwindist and composer Kevin King presents a series of compositions that represent different aspects of space and how we as human beings are reflected in that. Alumnus of the Jazz Institute of Chicago (JIC) Jazz Links program, King will be performing this limited series of concerts across the city. Kevin King honed his skills on the Chicago music scene under the tutelage of Chicago Legends Willie Pickens, Orbert Davis, and Diane Ellis. King has played all over the country with countless artists including Arturo Sandoval, Lauryn Hill, The Fugees, The Temptations, Marquis Hill, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Buddy Guy, etc. King is influenced by every sound known and unknown to man, which creates a sound unlike anything you have heard before. King has also written compositions inspired by some of the works of Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane. The original compositions King writes are in many ways a symbol of the values King lives by. An urgency to improve the world we live in with the art of sound creation, experimentation, and exploration. The music is a reflection of the world itself.
