Read to a Therapy Dog

Stop by and read to Ellie, a certified therapy dog! Dogs don't mind if you make any mistakes; they just love spending time with you. Reading to a dog can help build a reader's confidence and encourage reluctant readers. For kids ages 3 to 13. Alliance of Therapy Dogs is an international registry of certified therapy dog teams. ATD provides testing, certification, registration, support, and insurance for members who volunteer with their dogs in animal-assisted activities. Their objective is to form a network of caring individuals and their special dogs who are willing to share smiles and joy with people, young and old alike. How to AttendA sign up sheet will be at the information desk. 10 minute slots will be available for sign up. Drop ins are welcome, though a spot cannot be guaranteed without a sign up. We will have a variety of books for kids to choose from, or kids are welcome to bring their own from home! Ellie's handler will be present with the dog throughout the event.
