CPL at Printers Row: Maurice Broaddus: A City Dreaming

Join CPL at Printers Row Lit Fest for a fascinating conversation with award-winning Afrofuturist, editor, and librarian, Maurice Broaddus, in conversation with Mikki Kendall.  An award-winning Afrofuturist, editor, and librarian, Maurice Broaddus has had over a hundred short stories published in such places as Lightspeed Magazine, Black Panther: Tales from Wakanda, Out There Screaming (edited by Jordan Peele), The End of the World As We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand, Asimov’s, Weird Tales, Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, and Apex Magazine. With over a dozen novels in print, his latest include Black Panther: T’Challa Declassified, Unfadeable, Sweep of Stars, Breath of Oblivion, and A City Dreaming.   A City Dreaming is the third book in his Astra Black trilogy, which explores the struggles of an empire. Epic in scope and intimate in voice, it follows members of the Muungano Empire - a far-reaching coalition of city-states that stretches from Earth to Titan and beyond - as it faces renewed threats to its progress.  Mikki Kendall is the author of the New York Times-bestselling Hood Feminism and Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists a graphic novel illustrated by A. How to Attend: Printers Row Lit Fest is located on historic Printers Row, on and around the area of Dearborn Street, from Polk Street to Ida B. Wells Drive (formerly Congress Parkway) in Chicago.
